Parliament of Russia

The parliament of russia, termed the Federal Assembly,  is quite young. It was formed in 1993 by the constitution referendum. The parliament has 628 members and consists of two chambers. The first, lower house, is named State Duma and has 450 members and the socond, upper house, is named Federation Council and has 176 members.

The Parliament is permanently functioning exept for a regular break between the spring and fall season.  Also according to the new constitution the two chambers have to meet seperately in sessions open to the public.

The deputies of the State Duma have to work full-time, they are not allowed to serve in local legislatures or hold Government positions at the same time.

In 1994 to 1995 the parliament of Russia approved about 500 pieces of legislation. It was a passage away from the antiquated Soviet-era provisions.

The Federal Assembly is also famous in a negative way. There is a lot of corruption and also fights at the meetings. Here is an exmple:

The building of the Russian State Duma on Manege Square in Moscow.

  1. The main difference between Argentina´s and Russian´s parliament is about their´s number of seats, in Argentina there are 328 members, but in Russia there are more than 600 (628) members. Both are bicameral. In Argentina there are lower house and upper house as in Russia. One big difference is about their´s official names, lower house in Argentina is called the Chamber of Deputies, but in Russia it´s called the State Duma, upper house in Argentina is called the Senate, but in Russia it´s called the Federation Council. In Argentina there are not so much corruption like in Russia, even members of chambers are not known as “the fighters” like Jirinovskiy in Russia, which means that there are not very many fights. Argentina´s parliament is usually known in positive way.

  2. Good work.
But please be attentive to spelling. Corrections:
Russia, second, except, separately, from 1994 to 1995.
    Well illustrated ;-)
